Accounting Manager

Location: Hybrid – San Antonio, TX (4 days onsite)

Compensation: $100,000–$130,000 base + bonus

About the Role

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager for a respected organization based in San Antonio, TX. This hybrid position requires four days onsite per week and offers a competitive salary along with bonus potential.

As the Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for leading key financial functions including general ledger management, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting. You will manage monthly and annual close processes, oversee intercompany transactions, and ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate is a CPA-certified professional with a strong foundation in both public and private accounting , proven audit experience , and demonstrated leadership capabilities . Experience in the healthcare industry is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations including GL, AP/AR, and payroll
• Lead and coordinate month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare and analyze financial statements in compliance with GAAP
• Oversee financial consolidations across multiple entities
• Ensure accurate accounting for intercompany transactions
• Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting policies
• Collaborate across departments to support business goals
• Supervise tax reporting, including timely 1099 filings
• Serve as the main contact for external audits and manage audit readiness
• Lead and mentor a high-performing accounting team
• Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes using technology

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field – required
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) – required
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience – required
• Experience in both public and private accounting – required
• Audit experience – required
• Leadership and team management experience – required
• Healthcare industry experience – preferred
• Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial compliance
• Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
