Senior AWS Engineer Location: Remote (local to DC Metro Area required)
Work Type: Full Time Job Description: GridIron IT is seeking a highly skilled Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to manage, configure, and optimize AWS environments supporting mission-critical workloads. This individual will play a key role in developing and implementing scalable, secure, and automated cloud solutions in line with best practices. Key Responsibilities: Cloud Infrastructure Management: Administer, configure, and maintain AWS cloud systems and services. Design and manage AWS networking components including VPCs, subnets, security groups, and route tables. Ensure operational stability, scalability, and security across all AWS environments. Automation and Deployment: Automate the deployment of workloads using AWS tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CDK (Terraform preferred). Working knowledge of ECS, EKS, and Helm Working knowledge of Docker containers and build processes Strong Linux skills Create and maintain custom automation scripts using Python, Bash, or similar tools. Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor system health, resource usage, and costs to ensure high performance and operational efficiency. Apply cost optimization strategies and identify opportunities to streamline AWS operations. Standards and Best Practices: Develop and enforce operational standards and best practices for cloud deployments. Lead the implementation of new AWS-based solutions aligned with industry standards. Documentation and Support: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for AWS infrastructure, processes, and workflows. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure cloud systems meet evolving business needs. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with 5–7 years of experience, Master’s with 3–5 years, or Ph.D. with 0–2 years in AWS cloud administration, DevOps, or a related IT field. Strong understanding of AWS services, networking, and security concepts. Working knowledge of ECS, EKS, and Helm are required Working knowledge of Docker containers and build processes Strong Linux skills Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such asTerraform (preferred), CloudFormation, AWS CDK. Familiarity with the Atlassian suite agile methodologies Experience scripting in Python, Bash, or other languages for cloud automation. Proven ability to implement cloud cost optimization and performance tuning. Strong communication and documentation skills. U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance. Preferred Qualifications: AWS certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Professional and/or AWS DevOps Professional. Experience working on federal government or highly regulated environments. Compensation and Benefits:
Salary Range: $150,000-170,000 (Compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, skills, education, certifications, seniority, and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.)
