Position Summary
The CAD Designer is responsible for creation of technical drawings for manufacturing and assembly of Winsted products and architectural room layouts. The areas of responsibility include providing CAD layout and assembly designs for technical furniture and control rooms, create drawings of conceptual designs and detail drawings of components and assemblies, create and detail modifications to existing standard designs to meet customer needs, produce illustrations for technical publications and work instructions. The position requires a high degree of accuracy, timeliness and customer focus. The position is a key resource to the engineering and sales departments.
Primary Responsibilities
Design
· Provide CAD layout and assembly designs for technical furniture and control rooms
· Produce CAD conceptual designs, layout, and detail drawings of existing and new products
· Revise and redraw, as required, production drawings of existing standard products
· Collaborate with sales to create and detail modified designs of existing products to meet customer needs
· Layout, draw and produce illustrations for technical publications and work instructions
· Ad hoc projects as assigned
Key Deliverables
· Help build a positive, open culture that encourages and rewards cooperation and collaboration
Essential Education, Skills & Experience
· Associates Degree or completion of related technical trade school courses, or equivalent experience
· 1-3 years in an engineering role or related experience
· Experience with AutoCAD
· Thorough knowledge of mechanical design drafting practices
· Casework/Cabinet design experience, preferably with cabinet design software
· A high degree of accuracy and sense of urgency
· Excellent problem-solving skills
· Basic knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes
· Thorough knowledge of use and application of geometric tolerancing and tolerance analysis
· Strong computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office applications
Preferred Experience
· Experience with SolidWorks
