Alpha is opening a flagship campus in this city, and we're looking for a leader who already knows Houston's education landscape. You will manage 15 plus Guides who mentor and inspire students while our EdTech platform delivers all instruction. No "teaching". All execution. Pure leadership.
Your objective: guarantee every student enjoys school, progresses at twice the speed of conventional classrooms, and develops essential life competencies. This is not a conventional Principal position. You will maintain uncompromising standards, rely on data-driven decisions, and establish Houston's premier school from the start.

What You Will Be Doing
• Launch Alpha's flagship Houston campus: Execute Alpha's three core promises for 100 plus students from day one with operational excellence in every area.
• Facilitate live workshops with K through 12 students on life skills: Conduct compelling one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, giving and receiving feedback. Apply Alpha's playbook to ensure students develop skills traditional schools overlook while staying engaged.
• Drive every student to 100 percent goal achievement: Create individualized motivational frameworks for each student. Deploy data-driven methods to address resistance and maintain student engagement with the Alpha platform. Success is defined by every student reaching their goals.
• Develop Guides through coaching: Leverage quantitative and qualitative data to pinpoint performance gaps. Provide clear, actionable feedback during coaching sessions and monitor progress. Hold your team accountable through logic and objectivity, not empathy that undermines standards.
• Execute data-driven campus leadership: Evaluate performance across staff, operations, parent engagement, and culture. Identify problems, perform root cause analysis, consult stakeholders, implement measurable solutions. Monitor every decision and refine based on outcomes.
• Uphold excellence without exception: Establish and sustain Alpha's quality standards for students and staff. Make difficult decisions when performance is inadequate. Model the standard of excellence on your campus.

Basic Requirements
Head of School key responsibilities
• Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related field. Master's preferred.
• At least 7 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or related field
• Direct experience building and managing teams of at least 15 people with full hiring and firing authority
• Deep knowledge of the Houston or wider Texas education landscape. This insight into local student needs, community dynamics, and competitive school environment is highly valuable to Alpha's Houston launch.
• Experience working with youth ages 5 through 14
• Strong data analysis skills and experience using metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement
• Passion for transforming education. Belief that the traditional system is fundamentally broken.
• Startup mindset: thrives under pressure, adaptable in new situations, comfortable building systems from scratch
• Compelling and energetic speaker who commands attention from rooms full of students or staff
• Able to relate to K through 12 students, understand their interests and culture, serve as a positive role model
• Legally authorized to work in the United States

Working with us
This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $100 USD/hour, which equates to $200,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
