Responsibilities:

• Audit records for possible inconsistencies, discrepancies, errors, coding, billing practices and documentation - Investigate, rectify errors and provide recommendations to prevent future discrepancies
• Identify risk areas, create an audit strategy, provide recommendations for effective corrective actions
• Participate actively and enthusiastically in identifying project issues and workflow
• Conduct follow-up review with requesting/reviewed departments to ensure points of clarification on items are met
• Maintain current industries knowledge
• Must be comfortable working from and updating internal ticketing system in an organized and timely manner
• Must be willing to research and interpret policies and guidelines as needed for projects

Skills and Knowledge:

• Proficient in Epic applications and knowledge of company operating systems
• Full knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10-CM and CPT guidelines
• Full knowledge of Physician's at Teaching Hospital (PATH) guidelines
• Knowledge of Medicaid and Third Party Regulations
• Knowledge of CMS Regulations
• Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint proficient

Expected Licenses/Certifications:

• Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) desireable
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or
• Certified Coding Specialists (CCS) or
• Certified Coding Specialists Physicians (CCSP) or
• Certified Outpatient Coder (COC)
