Job Description

The Patient Care Tech, under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practicing Nurse (LPN) and, according to established procedures, performs patient care tasks and patient care procedures necessary to provide for the care, comfort and safety of patients. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age(s) of the patients served on the assigned unit. Responsibilities include patient and visitor interactions, customer service, hourly rounding, patient safe handling, ambulation, repositioning, basic nursing care such as assisting with ADLs, admission/discharge/transfers, performing procedures and treatments like vital signs, weights, intake & output, calorie counts, urinary catheter removal, ECGs, wound care, specimen collection, blood sugar testing, care companion duties, and department specific tasks such as restocking and cleaning. Minimum requirements include eligibility to work in the US, preferred completion of a certified nursing assistant training course and nursing clinical rotation, current or to-be-obtained BLS certification, no experience required, and excellent interpersonal skills. The role requires physical activity including sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and use of PPE as needed. The position is part-time, day shift with rotating weekends at GBH Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview, IL.
