About the Group The Molecular Oncology Group, part of the Discipline of Women’s Health, conducts world‑leading translational research to improve survival of patients diagnosed with ovarian cancer. The group focuses on genetic risk prediction and tumour profiling, leveraging large‑scale genetic and genomics datasets and long‑term clinical follow‑up data from its leading role in two large international consortia. Why This Role Matters In this position you will work with internationally recognised research leader Professor Susan Ramus. You will identify prognostic markers and develop tumour tests to personalise treatment for ovarian cancer patients, analysing DNA copy number data from large‑scale shallow whole genome sequencing. Key Responsibilities Analyse high‑dimensional bioinformatic data from preprocessing through to interpretation using R. Develop and validate tumour assays based on copy‑number variation. Maintain and utilise high‑performance computing resources, including supercomputers and cloud environments. Prepare reproducible research documents (e.g., RMarkdown) and share code via GitHub. Produce high‑quality manuscripts and presentations for academic journals and conferences. Collaborate across multiple organisations and coordinate multidisciplinary research projects. Continuously update knowledge of advances in cancer genetics and genomics. Qualifications – Level A A PhD in Genomics, Bioinformatics, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of experience, training and professional accreditation. Competency in analysis of high‑dimensional bioinformatic data from preprocessing to analysis in R. Experience in cancer genetics or genomics a plus. Experience with supercomputers, GitHub, conda environments, Python and reproducible research documents such as RMarkdown a plus. Demonstrated ability to conduct independent, high‑quality academic research with limited supervision. Proven organisational skills, time management, and meticulous attention to detail. Track record of publications and conference presentations relevant to the opportunity. Proactive engagement with current developments in the discipline. Qualifications – Level B (additional) Minimum of five years post‑doctoral research experience. Demonstrated high‑impact research publications and conference presentations. Ability to conceptualise novel research questions and independently develop them into high‑quality outputs. Experience coordinating collaborative projects with investigators from multiple organisations. Evidence of an increasing trajectory of research excellence and productivity.
