Summary:
Under direct supervision, learns and performs basic skills and functions related to the fabrication of aircraft cabinets and other wood-surfaced subassemblies using design and engineering drawings.
Learns entry-level technical skills, regulatory requirements, and tooling used in aircraft cabinetmaking.
Develops technical competency and problem-solving abilities to support progression to technician level.
Using standard safety procedures, design/engineering drawings, and materials such as laminates, veneers, and cap strips, develops proficiency in furniture preparation and assembly.
Uses the material tracking system to create parts demands, track squawks, and sign off completed work.
Complies with all safety, 5S, and housekeeping standards.
Uses personal protective equipment and ensures protection of aircraft interiors. Assists in related initiatives as needed.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience in woodworking, wood finishing, or auto body and painting in a technical environment preferred.
Completion of a Technical Certificate in cabinetmaking and/or current-year youth apprenticeship program in a relevant field is also preferred.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Able to climb ladders and stairs, work in confined areas, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift.
Must be computer literate.
Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
