Titan Industrial Metal is a growing metal recycler looking for a Scale House Specialist that can work in a fast paced environment where a high degree of concentration is necessary. 

Job Description Summary

 
The Scale House Specialist is responsible for all facets of our operations including processing all inbound and outbound transactions. The duties include, but are not limited to, recording weights in a computerized weighing system, running reports, processing check and cash payments, answering phones, and filing. 

 
Job Description
• Inspect paperwork and loads for inbound and outbound trucks. Enter all information into computer. Monitors and records vehicle gross, tare and net weights.
• Complete daily reports, maintain logs, spreadsheets and other reports, as assigned.
• Review public transactions and process cash payments.

• Communicates with dispatch and truck drivers to accurately record paperwork.
• Works with customers to satisfy their needs and assist them when problems arise.
• Work with other employees in the scrap metal yard to ensure swift work when materials arrive.

• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential job functions
• Performs other related duties as assigned

 
Required Qualifications:
• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent required.

• Computer Skills and the ability to operate a 10-key calculator are required.

• Accurately count money and calculate change.
• Ability to: communicate with others effectively; understand direction (written or oral) and use basic math skills as the job demands

• Ability to work independently in a safe and efficient manner and to follow safety policies and procedures.
• Willingness to learn how to: identify metal types, identify colors, shapes, and weights; properly maintain equipment; properly utilize PPE

 
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge and experience working with computerized scale systems and other similar software and equipment.

• Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus

• Flexible and can handle multiple tasks
• Detail-oriented and concern for quality
• Cash handling experience preferred
• Prior experience in the recycling industry is preferred

• Associate’s degree or some college courses preferred. 

 

 

  Physical/Environmental Demands:
• Physical:
• Sitting, seeing, hearing, & smelling continuously.
• Problem solving, oral/written communication, analytical ability, calculating, concentration, & interpersonal abilities continuously.
• Eye/hand coordination, fingering (typing), handling, & wrist motion continuously.
• Bending, reaching, stretching, sitting, standing, & walking occasionally.
• Environmental:
• Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, & noise continuously.
• Exposure to grease, oil, chemicals, & wet conditions occasionally.
• Works inside but occasionally walks outside to communicate with co-workers in recycling center.
