We are seeking a dedicated and experienced School Psychologist to serve the students and families, through a full-time, onsite role. This position plays a vital part in supporting both general education and special education students by delivering comprehensive psychological services. The School Psychologist will engage in direct student interventions, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and support systemic practices to enhance student learning and well-being.
The ideal candidate is highly collaborative, trauma-informed, and experienced in working with diverse student populations. This role requires an active New Mexico School Psychologist license .
Key Responsibilities Direct Services to StudentsProvide individual, group, and/or family counseling and interventions to general education and special education students.
Deliver crisis intervention and immediate support to students at risk, including evaluation, safety planning, and referrals to community-based mental health services as needed.
Use a variety of diagnostic tools , including behavioral rating scales, standardized personality instruments, and projective techniques to assess students for eligibility, behavioral/emotional needs, and intervention planning.
Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations to support eligibility for special education services, emotional/behavioral support, and academic interventions.
Complete detailed evaluation reports, documentation, and professional correspondence in accordance with state timelines and supervisor requests.
Interpret assessment data to IEP teams and recommend appropriate instructional and behavioral strategies.
Design, implement, and monitor individualized behavior and academic intervention plans, particularly for students identified with Serious Emotional/Behavioral Disturbance (SEBD) or those at risk.
Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and adjust strategies based on data-driven insights and student progress.
Attend and participate in IEP meetings, student support team (SST) meetings, and multidisciplinary planning sessions.
Provide case management services to families and students when the IEP team identifies needs related to home-school coordination, inter-agency collaboration, or referrals to community resources.
Lead and coordinate the school-based mental health team , including educational specialists, social workers, counselors, nurses, behavioral management staff (BMS), and behavior disorder (BD) consultants across the school cluster.
Required:
Masters, Specialist, or Doctoral degree in School Psychology
Active School Psychologist Licensure in the State of New Mexico
Familiarity with IDEA, Section 504, and New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) policies
Experience working with students with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (EBD) and students in crisis
Preferred:
Experience working in rural or underserved school communities
Bilingual Spanish-English fluency (preferred, not required)
Strong skills in trauma-informed practice , cultural responsiveness, and restorative practices
