Standardized Patient Department: SOM Wichita Standardized Patient (SP) Job Description Standardized Patients are trained to act as though they have specific illnesses. They learn the history, body language, physical findings, and emotional and personality characteristics that tend to go along with the illness. They play their part in videotaped training sessions that happen at a variety of times within a given week. Compensation Performance and Training Pay: $19.45 per hour. Pay Range: $17.50 – $30.00 (minimum $17.50, midpoint $23.75, maximum $30.00) Job Duties Daily access to email Keep track of all assigned case dates Participate in all trainings assigned (cases, compliance, other) Study all facts of the assigned case script, train and perform with accuracy, and be able to respond positively to constructive feedback Call (as soon as possible) if unable to attend a scheduled session Arrive at scheduled time Dress appropriately for each case (casual, business, exam gown, etc.) Consistently perform the case to ensure each learner is seeing the same portrayal of the scenario Make adjustments to the way the case is played if requested by faculty or SP staff Remember what each student/resident asked and did during the encounter and record it on the standardized patient checklist accurately Keep all cases and encounters with students/residents confidential Other duties Work Availability Requirements Part time with a varying schedule Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Required Qualifications Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Work Experience: Experience maintaining confidential information.
