We are currently seeking to hire highly dedicated substitute teachers. We strive to hire individuals who are determined to see all students succeed, cognizant of their mindset, champions of equity, and are results-oriented. Substitute teaching positions offer ideal opportunities for retired educators, those starting their careers in education, and individuals curious about the field. Whether you're early in your journey or seeking a new path, short-term substituting provides flexibility to select assignments that suit your needs. Our Ideal Candidate:
Holds, or is eligible to obtain, a current Wisconsin Teaching License
Passionate and engaging educator
Demonstrates ability to build positive, nurturing relationships with all learners by setting learning expectations at students’ readiness levels.
Ability to maintain a positive and safe learning environment.
Collaborative and exceptional solutions-oriented mindsets.
Ability to be flexible and adaptable, especially during times of change.
Demonstrates good communication skills, including ability to guide and supervise groups of students, maintain confidentiality, and work with students in a positive and motivational manner.
Demonstrates proficient office skills with computers and software.
Able to interact with others effectively, follow directions and initiate activities independently.
Enjoy working with students and other staff members.
Demonstrates and supports a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion
Bilingual (Spanish) skills and abilities are a plus.
What We Offer:
Qualified candidates must have or be able to obtain a valid substitute license in the state of Wisconsin or hold a Wisconsin teaching license. Learn more about the steps to take to become a substitute teacher. Additionally, we offer a reimbursement program for the license fee for substitute teachers. We also encourage you to review the information on DPI's website and feel free to give us a call at (608) 437-7035. We'll be happy to guide you in the licensing process and answer any questions you may have.
New Substitutes will be compensated at the following rates for your wonderful work!
$140 for full day
$75 for ½ day
$95 for early release day
Retired Mount Horeb Teachers and Substitutes that show their dedication and commitment to our district by working twenty (20) or more days in current or previous year will receive an increase in the daily rate as reflected below.
$150 for full day
$80for ½ day
$100 for early release day
