Internship: Work Based Learning Position Summary This position is designed for high school students who have been recruited to participate in the work study program within their current school. Students are placed into a worksite environment to gain experience in a particular career field in order to earn high school credits. Work Based Learning Interns do not replace a regular employee, but perform the tasks that they are assigned for the purpose of discovering if it is a career field they would like to pursue. Essential Duties/Responsibilities Variety of worksite experiences can include: Technology, Plumbing, Electrician, Auto Repair, Machine Shop and Maintenance; Performing in office environment to learn to use Microsoft Office Suite skills and office equipment; Working alongside Signature Program or Magnet Program leaders to support programming; or Providing teacher, classroom, and outdoor learning support in AACPS elementary and middle school summer camps. Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower. Minimum Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. Education Must be a student at the school where working or assigned to a neighboring middle school. Experience None Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And Other Characteristics Excellent communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work efficiently and harmoniously with other students and at the direction of school administrators and staff. Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.
